The figure below shows the layout of our den, which is now, primarily, our media room or the Theater. It includes a 1600-lumen projector, a Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound receiver, DVD player, VCR, 27" TV, little refridgerator, and seating for at least five.

In the figure the system speakers are shown in bright cyan.

Each red, numbered arrow or box is a link to a photo. Arrows show the camera position from which each picture was taken. The numbers will lead you in a logical progression through the photos.

As to equipment, things such as the receiver, DVD player, VCR, and TV are rather typical. However, a few clever improvisations saved a decent amount.
  • Projectors are often $1500-$2000.
    • Mine (Epson PowerLite S3): $729
  • Ceiling Mounts are typically $200.
    • Mine (Cutting Board and Bolts - see link above): $12
  • Movie Screens (approx. 90" wide) run $150-$300.
    • Mine (a Flat Cotton Sheet and some Twine): $6

Note that the pictures pale in comparison to the actual experience.
