Caladan celebrated at Shoney's after the awards ceremony at school.
She received certificates for having an A average in Math, History, Reading, Science, Health,
Language, Spelling, Phonics, and Bible.
She was given Participation certificates for Art, Physical Education, Music, and Book It. She also
received a Reading certificate for reading 626 pages beyond Book It and nightly reading homework.
Her Honor Roll certificate recognized her for being on the Principal's Honor Roll all year.
Perhaps most impressive were the five pins Caladan received. They indicate that she had the
highest average among all first graders in Language, Math, Reading, Phonics, and Health. She
was awarded more highest average pins than anyone else. (She was one-tenth of a point
from highest overall average for the year, too.)
